Our Adult Inpatient Program at Bronson Behavioral Health Hospital

For adults who are suffering from crisis-level symptoms of mental health disorders and co-occurring substance use disorders, Bronson Behavioral Health Hospital can offer immediate stabilization services. This level of care can be helpful for those who are in danger of hurting themselves or others and need a safe and supportive environment where they can begin the healing process. We provide inpatient programming for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with mental health concerns such as:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Posttraumatic stress disorder
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Psychosis
  • Self-harm
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Schizoaffective disorder

At Bronson, we see the importance of addressing co-occurring substance use disorders as we treat mental health disorders. For patients who are struggling with primary mental health concerns, we provide treatment for co-occurring addictions to substances like alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, and stimulants.

Before they receive care from us, each patient completes a thorough evaluation that gives us insight into their medical background, symptoms, and needs. Based on the information we gather during the evaluation, our team creates an individualized treatment plan for each patient. At Bronson, this plan can include individual, group, and family therapy sessions that incorporate the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and cover topics such as:

  • Coping strategies
  • The effects of trauma
  • Relationship skills
  • Emotion regulation
  • 12-Step principles
  • Relapse prevention
  • Stress management techniques
  • Self-esteem
  • Life skills

Treatment plans at Bronson may also include medication management services for patients who have been prescribed medications. The typical length of stay in the adult inpatient program at Bronson is five to seven days.

Therapies Offered at Bronson Behavioral Health Hospital

At Bronson Behavioral Health, inpatient treatment for mental health concerns and co-occurring addictions includes a variety of therapies delivered by qualified mental health professionals. Our adult and older adult inpatient programs offer the following evidence-based interventions:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy: At Bronson, licensed counselors use CBT in an individual or group therapy setting to help patients identify and change negative thoughts that may be affecting their ability to heal. CBT can help patients develop coping and problem-solving skills that improve their well-being.
  • Individual therapy: Each patient can meet one-on-one with a therapist or social worker in individual therapy sessions. These sessions give patients the chance to discuss their feelings and receive feedback and insight from a behavioral health professional.
  • Group therapy: Group therapy gives patients the chance to meet and support one another. They can also receive education from behavioral health staff on their diagnoses, medications, and helpful strategies for coping. At Bronson, patients take part in group therapy sessions daily.
  • Family therapy: We understand that it’s not just the patient who struggles when they have a mental health concern. Because family members are affected when a loved one has a mental health concern, we provide family therapy sessions as needed. During these sessions, our staff provides education that can help family members build stronger relationships with one another.

We understand that healing from behavioral health concerns is a process, and we are committed to meeting each person where they are on their journey. By participating in our programming, patients can develop new skills and self-confidence, leading to life-changing results.
